Chapter 12

David Ferguson was going to have a fucking heart attack, Jim was just certain. The outfit his wife was modeling for him in their bedroom was so far beyond anything he had ever seen her wear that he was honestly a little worried that her boss might have a coronary event.

“You’re going to kill the man,” he stated flatly. “No shit, Annie. Wearing that thing to work tomorrow is the same as murder.”

“Oh stop!” she giggled, turning back and forth in front of the mirror. “It does look good, though, doesn’t it?”

Good was the understatement of the year. She was a vision. Every man’s fantasy. A walking wet dream.

When she’d asked him to pick up the kids from the sitter’s again yesterday so that she could get a haircut and do a little shopping, he had been understanding. The effect of her new jogging regimen on her figure had been dramatic, and even he could see that her wardrobe was beginning to look a little loose on her more athletic frame. She needed new clothes. But honestly, when she said she was going to buy some new outfits this was not quite what he had expected!

She had on a sweater dress with a cowl neck that gaped open just enough to provide a hint of her tantalizing cleavage, charcoal gray with three broad black stripes running horizontally around her body. It was sleek and sexy, and it was short. Fuck, was it short!

From where he was sitting, Jim estimated that the hem was no more than four inches below the crotch of her panties. God only knew how you were supposed to move around in that thing without flashing your goods to the entire world! Jim swallowed hard when it occurred to him that maybe that’s exactly what his wife intended to do.

A chain of large gold loops encircled her waist, breaking the monotony of the black and jingling seductively with each movement. The chain perfectly matched the hoop earrings that dangled from each ear, the ones he had given her as a gift.

Her brand-new knee-high leather boots sported four-inch heels and fuzzy tops that forced you to stare at her legs. They were the final touch, the piece de resistance that took the entire ensemble into the realm of exquisitely erotic while judiciously avoiding looking cheap.

He’d been a little hesitant when she mentioned cutting her hair. After all, she’d had long hair since they had met, and he liked it. But, when she had walked in earlier, after her trip to the salon, he had to admit he’d been wrong.

It wasn’t exactly short now, still falling to her shoulders, but it had a rounder, bouncier form without the extra weight pulling her natural curls straight. And, oddly enough, it made her look younger, sassier, more adventurous.

The overall effect was stunning. She was a classy sex kitten, just begging to be touched. Even in the bedroom, Jim had never seen her look so appealing. And the thought of her wearing this in public made his mouth feel like cotton and his pulse race.
